HOLD ON! LET ME OVERTHINK/ENJOY THIS

Here's the worksheet I created during the livestream.

Download this worksheet and try the patterns at your own keyboard. Playing patterns like this is a great way to get this modern worship style in your fingers AND your head!

A New Piano Piece

A Study in thirds

Here's the piece I featured in my "Fix the Flam" video. Click the music image to download the score. Click the button below to view the video where I describe and demonstrate effective practice methods when learning this piece or any other piece:

• Practice with rhythms, creating rhythmic patterns like "short/long", "long/short".

• Play all notes staccato, creating a slight "flick" or "swipe" toward your palm as you play these short notes.

Find new chords for familiar songs

Some surprising and unexpected chords were used on the last chorus of “Gratitude” on Brandon Lake's “House of Miracles” project. In this video learn how to use those beautiful chords for the chorus of “O Come to the Altar”.

Using Sixths

The interval of a sixth can be a beautiful addition to your keyboard parts. Learn how to build sixths within your chord progression and play along with me as I show you two ways to play them.

HOW to create an underscore

Keyboard players are often asked to “underscore” during a worship service.  Underscoring provides a musical “bed” under a prayer, a Scripture reading, or some other element of a service. Learn what works in an underscore, and what you should avoid.
